مزاد IPL: أصيب محمد الشامي منذ نهائي كأس العالم، وخضع لعمليات جراحية لاستعادة لياقته الكاملة.
Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar has dropped yet another truth bomb, this time related to Mohammed Shami and the IPL Auction. Many believed that if the pacer is fit, he would fetch a good sum at the IPL Auction, but Manjrekar doesn’t feel so. In fact, he believes that his price tag might “drop” for the upcoming auction.
It is important to note that Shami played his first competitive match after a year, during the BEN vs MP Ranji Trophy fixture. He is also slated to play in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy starting Nov 23, and could be on his way to Australia, for IND vs AUS Tests. That make him more susceptible to getting injured again.
“There will definitely be interest from teams, but given Shami’s injury history—and this recent one took a significant amount of time to recover—there’s always a concern about a potential breakdown during the season,” Manjrekar said on Star Sports. “If a franchise invests heavily and then loses him mid-season, their options become limited. This concern might lead to a drop in his price tag,” he added.
It is important to note that Mohammed Shami has a base price of INR 2 Cr, and will be in the marquee list 2. He last played in IPL in 2023, and has been excellent for GT. In 33 matches for them, he has picked up 48 wickets. In short, that increases the headache for GT too, who would not be sure, whether to use RTM for him or not.
