2005, 2017, and 2020 have been the years where the Indian women’s team has come agonizingly close to lifting their maiden World Cup title. Amol Muzumdar accepts the need for a Sports Psychologist

India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and head coach Amol Muzumdar addressed a press conference before leaving for Dubai today. During the interaction, both of them were asked about the sports psychologist in the team, to which Muzumdar revealed about a preparation camp. During the camp, the women’s team trained specifically on their fitness and fielding, and it was then that the team had a session with the sports psychologist, Mugdha Bavare.

In the Asia Cup (2024) Finals, we sat together as a team and we identified a few things. We had a camp dedicated to fitness and fielding. In that we tried to introduce a psychologist. That’s an area we would like to tap into. I was pretty happy with the result by the end of the camp. There were certain things, we tried to address. Mugdha Bavare (Sports Psychologist) was with us. She’s been fantastic with the group and she continues to be there.
