All is well! Rishabh Pant keeps wickets with “no strapping on right knee” just before IND vs NZ 2nd Test

India had a training session on Tuesday (October 22) and we have a piece of good news coming your way! Rishabh Pant, who was seen suffering from a jolt on his right knee during the Bengaluru Test, practised at full throttle two days before the second India vs New Zealand Test in Pune. While it was Dhruv Jurel who kept wickets for the majority of the opening Test, Pant was seen donning the wicket-keeping gloves. Pant kept wickets during the practice session, that too, without any strapping on his right knee.

Rishabh Pant is ready for IND vs NZ 2nd Test

Rishabh Pant, who recently made a comeback after serious knee surgery following a life-threatening accident, found himself injured again in the first Test against New Zealand. During day two, Pant took a blow to his knee, causing significant concern as it was the same leg that had previously undergone surgery. This injury forced the 27-year-old wicketkeeper off the field and he didn’t even keep wickets in the second innings as well.

Following India’s loss, Rohit Sharma also asserted that the management will be extra careful with Pant. And after all, the southpaw is India’s most important Test batter. He has clubbed 919 runs at a superb average of 61.26 at a strike rate of 88.11 in Tests in India. However, as per Revsportz, Pant was quite comfortable during the practice session and even batted for an extended session.

Morne Morkel bowls to Pant!

Rishabh Pant had an authoritative net session with the bat as he clubbed “spinners, throwdown specialists, and pacers.” Moreover, according to Revsportz, newly appointed India bowling coach Morne Morkel also rolled his arms over against Rishabh Pant. The Indian wicket-keeper clubbed spinners as he played his trademark sweeps, reverse sweeps and slog shots.

Moreover, it is also to be understood that Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will take call on Pant’s inclusion closer to the match day. Ahead of the training session, India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate said, “Rishabh is pretty good. I think Rohit (Sharmna) touched on it the other day. He was having a little bit of discomfort at the end range of his movement with the knee. But fingers crossed, he’ll be good to keep in the Test as well.”
