لم تهزم أستراليا الهند في سلسلة اختبارية منذ جولة الهند في Down Under في 2014-2015.
Pat Cummins’ has already decided on the excuse if they lose a third Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) at home. With India aiming for a hat-trick Down Under, having already beaten Australia in 2018-19 and 2020-21, the Rohit Sharma-led side would have their mission three-peat in Perth on November 22. If Australia goes on to lose a third consecutive Test series to India at home, captain Cummins has already decided how he’ll comfort himself.
Cummins’ defeat loophole
The pacer went to an Australian podcast, the Grade Cricketer (TGC), to have a chat about BGT and more. There he was asked, “Last time India won (2020-21), was it the worst series loss?” Cummins stated that “one before that (2018-19) was worse; we were outplayed.” What the 31-year-old claimed was true as India won the series 2-1, but it probably would have been 3-1 as rain led to a draw in Sydney with Australia still trailing by 316 after India enforced the follow-on.
TGC jokingly told Cummins that the Baggy Green could hide behind excuses in 2018-19, but now they can’t do so now. “We (Australia) had excuses. No Steve Smith or David Warner. This time, no excuses.” Cummins quickly quipped, “Oh, we’ll find something.“ As the TGC cackled with laughter, Cummins jokingly added, “No, Greeny (Cameron Green), who’s going to open the batting and bowl now?”
