The team has retained only three stars ahead of the IPL 2025 auction – Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal. Players including skipper Faf du Plessis, pacer Mohammed Siraj and batter Glenn Maxwell have been released by RCB.
RCB’s weak retention list doubles woes ahead of IPL 2025
RCB released one of their best baters in the name of Faf du Plessis. The batter has been consistent at the top while opening with Virat Kohli over the last two seasons. He scored 730 runs in IPL 2023, his highest season with the bat since 2021. Undoubtedly, RCB will be desperate to find an opening partner for Virat Kohli and there will be no surprises if they use the RTM route to rope in Faf du Plessis.

RCB’s weak middle-order
RCB have decided to release Glenn Maxwell ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. With Dinesh Karthik having retired from IPL after the 2024 season, the team will now embark on a new journey to find finishers for the team. Ever since his move from PBKS tio RCB, Maxwell has proven to be an valuable player in the middle-order, barring the 2024 season when he managed to score only 52 runs. With Maxwell gone, RCB will look to recruit more middle-order batters in the IPL 2025 auction.

Yash Dayal is the only retention RCB has made for a bowler ahead of IPL 2025 auction. The team has chosen to release Mohammed Siraj ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. Apart from Siraj, the team has also released Vijaykumar Vyshak, Alzarri Joseph, Will Jacks and more ahead of the auction. RCB wi now be on the hunt for bowlers in the IPL 2025 auction as they will eye building a fresh bowling unit.
