Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) greatly benefited from Yuzvendra Chahal until he was associated with the IPL franchise. He was picked by RCB in the auction before IPL 2014 and had been an integral part of the side till 2022. Having played 114 matches for RCB, the veteran was shocked when RCB did not make a bid for him in the IPL 2022 auction and was eventually signed by RR.

Chahal has a reputation of being one of RCB’s best bowlers at their home ground M Chinnaswamy stadium. With 205 wickets to his name from 160 IPL matches, he is one of the most seasoned Indian spinners who are in the fray. Chahal was a consistent wicket-taker for RCB since he joined the side in 2014 and has gone on to bag 20+ wickets in three seasons for the franchise. He has bagged 27, 21 and 18 wickets in the last three years, establishing himself as one of the best Indian bowlers in the shortest format. While he reaped the reward for his performance in IPL 2024 with a call-up to India’s T20 World Cup squad, he warmed the bench throughout the tournament.

Chahal bowling stats in IPL for RCB

RCB have retained only Yash Dayal as a bowling option ahead of IPL 2025 auction. This means that the team is eyeing a revamp of the entire bowling line-up which previosuly comprised of stars like Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep and others. Chahal will be perfect fit for RCB, given that they would require the services of a veteran spinner. RCB have made only three retentions ahead of the IPL 2025 auction – Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal.
