هناك لاعب واحد من مواليد إيطاليا سجل نفسه في مزاد IPL 2025 الضخم. ومن المرجح أنه جو بيرنز، الذي حول ولاءه من أستراليا إلى إيطاليا.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it official! The much-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction is set to take place in Jeddah on November 24-25. Incredibly, as many as 1,574 players have registered themselves for the auction. This is a massive increase from the IPL 2024 auction numbers, where 1,166 players were registered.
IPL 2025 auction to be a “mega” one!
The diverse pool of 1,574 players includes 1,165 Indians and 409 overseas cricketers, showcasing the global appeal of the IPL. Among the registrants are 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 players from Associate Nations.
As franchises prepare to fill their 25-player squads, a total of 204 slots will be up for grabs at the auction. With a plethora of talented players vying for these coveted spots, the competition is expected to be fierce. Last year, as many as 333 names were shortlisted. It remains to be seen what this number would be this time around. Strikingly, one Italian player has been registered. Assumably, it is Joe Burns, who previously played for Australia.
The previous IPL auction, a single-day event, was held in Dubai. Two players commanded significant attention: Mitchell Starc, acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders for a substantial Rs 24.75 crore, and Pat Cummins, who joined Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 20.50 crore. This auction also marked a historic moment as Mallika Sagar became the IPL’s first female auctioneer, succeeding veteran Hugh Edmeades. Kolkata Knight Riders concluded the previous season triumphantly, defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad to claim the IPL 2024 title.
