Even before the IPL Retentions and IPL Auctions have started, it is the season for all franchises to change the support staff. Now DC has roped in former India all-rounder Vijay Bharadwaj as the head of the talent scout wing, as per a report in the Times of India. With that, Vijay will now attend the trials by the franchise, which will take place in the next coming weeks.

The first trial for DC is scheduled to take place in Hyderabad on October 23, while the next one will be in Mumbai in November. The appointment has come after Delhi Capitals brought in Venugopal Rao as the Director of cricket, while Hemang Badani is the new head coach. It must be noted that Vijay Bharadwaj worked as an assistant coach at the IPL, in the initial few seasons.

Not just that, Munaf Patel will most likely assume the duty of the bowling coach for the team. Earlier this month, DC that is co-jointly owned by GMR and JSW, split the operations, between men’s and women’s teams. Now, the former will take care of the DC men’s team for two years.

“IPL is not just a two-month tournament. It needs planning, work and strategising throughout the year. There is so much cricket happening in and outside India and you can’t afford to switch off. Scouting, camps, trials, player development… so many things are at play and a franchise has to ensure they work 365 days a year to be on top,” said a source close to developments.

There are more new announcements coming up from DC, who have made wholesale changes already, before the October 31 deadline of the IPL retentions.
