هل سيتعلم نادي رويال تشالنجرز بنغالورو من أخطائه السابقة في مزاد الدوري الهندي الممتاز ويختار اللاعبين المناسبين في مزاد الدوري الهندي الممتاز 2025؟
Royal Challengers Bangalore has a history of not picking the right players at the auction table. One of the reasons behind their failure to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) title could be their poor squad selection. In IPL 2024, acquiring Cameron Green for 15 crore rupees as a trade from Mumbai Indians (MI) was a blunder, as it left them with limited funds for the IPL 2024 auction. There have been many instances where RCB has bid on the wrong players; let’s look at three such cases.
3 bad picks by RCB in IPL Auction history
Player | Auction Edition | Price |
---|---|---|
Cheteshwar Pujara | 2011 | Rs. 3.22 crores |
Kyle Jamieson | 2021 | Rs. 15 crore |
Alzarri Joseph | 2023 | Rs. 11.5 crore |
Cheteshwar Pujara
Cheteshwar Pujara is a great cricketer, but no one can vouch for his T20 abilities, as he lacks the qualities that the shorter format demands. It’s well known that Pujara is one batter you wouldn’t pick for the T20 format. However, RCB still chose him and bought him for Rs. 3.22 crore. The result was as expected—he struggled, playing 14 matches for the franchise over three years, scoring 143 runs at an average of 14.3 and a strike rate of just 94.07.
Kyle Jamieson
Kyle Jamieson was another poor pick by RCB. The franchise spent Rs. 15 crore on him in the IPL 2021 auction, but his performance was disappointing, with just 9 wickets and 65 runs in 9 matches.
Alzarri Joseph
Picking Alzarri Joseph was a good decision at the auction table as he was an emerging pacer. However, spending 11.5 crore on him was an overpayment. Moreover, he played only three matches in the season, taking just one wicket with an expensive economy rate of 11.9.
