After a span of nearly 5 years, IPL 2025 auction is set to have two sets of marquee players who will go under the hammer on November 24-25. 2018 and 2014 were the previous occasions when such a provision was available. IPL 2025 auction is all set to take place in Jeddah across two days, where 1547 players will be in the fray. The elite list will comprise of the likes of KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and more.
Two elite lists in IPL auction
As per Cricbuzz, the BCCI has informed the franchises that that there will be two sets of marquee players with 8-9 stars fray in each set. The report adds that players like Mohammed Siraj, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant are expected to be in the Elite grade. Meanwhile, England’s Ben Stokes was also supposed to be a part of this Elite list but has pulled out of the tournament.

While each player in the Elite group have registered for a base price of Rs 2 crore, the report claims that it is expected that the franchises will will have spent 30-50% of their salary purse by the end of the first two sets. Additionally, the report claims that each franchise is expected to pick at least two big names in the rounds, costing Rs 25-30 crore on an average. Totally, the IPL teams are expected to spend Rs 200-20 cr out of the Rs 641.5 crore purse that is available. The franchises have already spent Rs 558.5 crore of the permitted INR 1200 crore on recent retentions.
